STATION WAGON SERIES-Station wagons were a
separate series for Mercury in '57. The top-of-the-line model was the
Colony Park. It featured four-door hardtop styling and
fake wood trim. The mid-priced wagon was the Voyager. It had a rear vent window
like the Colony Park, but did not have
wood trim. The lowest priced wagon, the Commuter, looked about the same as the
Voyager, but lacked a rear vent window.
Making its first
appearance in 1957 was a promotional name that has continued to 1991 - Colony
Park. It was applied to the premium-level Type 77B 4-door,9-passenger Station
Wagon whiched sold for $3,677. Its production having totaled 7,386, this year's
Colony Park maintained the long-standing Mercury tradition of employing
woodgrain appliques and rail-like border systems on top-of-the-line
wagons.
The selection of 1957 Mercury colors consisted
of Tuxedo Black, Classic White, Rosewood, Nantucket Blue, Fiesta Red,
Moonmist Yellow, Regency Grey, Persimmon, Pacific Blue, Tahitian Green, Sherwood
Green, Dessert Sand, Sunset Orchid and Pastel Peach. In addition to Flo-Tones
and conventional two-tones it was possible to order these cars in a solid hue
with a
complementary or contrasting "projectile theme"color.
